Every few years a police brutality case comes along that has all the requirements for a quick burst of national media attention: race, race and race. The latest of these cases was that of Sean Bell, a black man who was shot and killed outside a strip club on the night before his wedding, November 25 2006, by a group of undercover cops. Hey Democrats, Where's Our Money?
During the 2006 Congressional election campaign, the Democrats made numerous promises which everyone knew they would never be able to keep (e.g. reducing corruption, getting out of Iraq, improving the "tone" in Washington, etc.). However, one of their promises—increasing the U.S. Federal Minimum Wage—seemed like a slam dunk. After all, the federal minimum wage (currently set at $5.15) has not been increased since 1997, and at least 80% of the American people favor an increase.
